(September 2023)

We believe the only way to sustainably make positive changes on this planet is through our ARTISTS. Rogue Dancer celebrates the extraordinary in the ordinary this month. The HEROES in our everyday lives we may or may not take for granted. Those brave enough to address the needs of the people around them, care for our bodies and minds and teach by example how to live in the world we live in today. Everyday HEROES… we see you.

September 22 – October 8, 2023

«»dance for the camera», «video dance», «cine dance», «screendance», – may seem somewhat interchangeable, they are, in actuality, quite specific. Each term speaks to a particular combination of performance and materiality, and each sites the dual properties of their hybridized identities in an order that signifies the relative importance of the parts.” - Douglas Rosenberg, Screendance

A man, an hard loneliness, an ordinary night. In an era pervaded by devices, the remedy is easy and at hand: running requires no effort, as does exploring unknown places. Even in the guise of a new ego, in which beauty and agility elevate us to the best memory of ourselves, there is no escaping ghosts and anxieties. The boundary between reality and the virtual narrows as the distance does between the two protagonists, imprisoned in the title of the work. Is Samir the young hero, or rather the one who gives him life and soul?

K4

film by Virginia Alizioti (c) 2023 GREECE

K4: four dimensions. The 4th one is always there but rarely depicted. It defies the laws of architecture and projects itself via the figures of the students whose presence and spirit is there: at the School of Architecture premises. Four (4) is shown itself in the shapes that characterize the space, though it is expressed geometrically in three dimensions. The fourth one, though denied as matter, is there as energy, thought and mostly movement.

Virginia Alizioti - Director, Writer & Producer

DANCE FROM ISREAL

film by Andreas Morell (c) 2023 GERMANY

Dance from Israel means: presence, modernity, emotion, beauty, but also aggressiveness – and increasingly politics. In the best sense, dance is a mirror of society.

Dance, that comes from a country as politically and societally torn apart like Israel, is exciting, challenging and even complex. The film explores this versatility: Companies and choreographers speak about their experiences and rehearsals and dance performances are visible.

Andreas Morell - Director

Birgit Lorbeer-Claussen - Producer
