Jennifer Scully-Thurston
She has meandered her way in and out of the Dance, Movement and Arts worlds her whole life. She has traveled the world in Off-Broadway shows, small contemporary companies, taught in higher education and found her voice again as "Dancer With An Attitude" writing Dance, Theater and Book reviews. Her work caught the attention of The Dance Critics Association and their 2011 Emerging Writer Award. She brought movement expertise to the world of animation and film with Grasshorse Studios. Continued honing her administrative chops with Core Dance, a small but prolific internationally touring dance co. based in Houston & Atlanta.
Today she is bringing her skills, dance and music to the public school system through NC Arts in Action whose program is active in 14 Title 1 schools across the state, helping under-served children reach their full potential. In October 2019 she rolled out FilmFest by Rogue Dancer, a monthly on-line Film Festival devoted exclusively to Dance.
She is a dance filmmaker, curator and video installation artist. Her ongoing collaborations include works with her husband Christopher Scully-Thurston (Composer), HyMettus Woods, Onur Topal- Sumer (Dancer & Filmmaker), Jeff Roll (Filmmaker), Dustin Glasco (Editor) and Robert Epps (Sequential Artist). Today... Momentum is growing in pulling all of her disparate dance endeavors together through Rogue Dancer Productions. In the meantime, the work is happening and in full swing. A sonic-dreamescape artist and soundtrack composer based in Raleigh, NC, USA. He is an United Art's NC recognized audio artist and musician.
His screendance film scores have won numerous awards and laurels. The sci-fi dance film “Seuls Ensemble (Alone Together)” was a big hit at American Dance Festival's Movies by Movers . And “After the Reign – Confusion” was featured in Depict! Film Festival in Bristol, UK.
Christopher conceptualized and recorded Empty Sound's Koan 1, acclaimed by Downbeat Magazine as one of the decade's best modern avant garde jazz albums.
